AICET the First AI Evaluation Test

Launch of AICET – Artificial Intelligence Competence Evaluation Test
In a groundbreaking move for the academic and technological community, the University of Montpellier unveiled the AICET (Artificial Intelligence Competence Evaluation Test) on January 30th at the Faculty of Sciences. This test represents a significant milestone in the university’s journey toward AI acculturation.
Testing the Waters
The AICET brought together 120 eager students from diverse backgrounds, including participants from Polytech Montpellier.
The test was structured into three levels of expertise: Awareness, Knowledgeable User, and Expert
It covered five categories of skills, providing a comprehensive evaluation of participants’ AI proficiency
Categories Covered
Theoretical Axis – Fundamental knowledge of AI
Applicative Axis – Understanding AI application domains
Operational Axis – Proficiency in AI tools and methods
Legal and Ethical Axis – Knowledge of laws, standards, and regulations
General Knowledge Axis – History and key figures in AI

It is a key component of the “IA Cluster: world-class research and training hubs in AI” project, aiming to enhance education and awareness in artificial intelligence.
Towards Certification and Beyond
The AICET is more than a test—it is a step toward standardization and recognition:
Plans for AFNOR certification are underway
Implementation is expected to expand beyond Montpellier
The test is designed to evolve with AI advancements
